WABAG in $133 million USD Saudi sewage water plant contract win Water Treatment

Leading pure-play water technology Indian multinational VA TECH WABAG Group has been awarded a major engineering, procurement and construction contract worth half a billion Saudi Riyals ($133 million) for the expansion of the sewage water treatment plant in Jubail. The EPC contract was awarded by power and water utility company Marafiq for Jubail and Yanbu in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .

The plant will be designed using the activated sludge process for carbon and nitrogen removal to treat the sewage water in accordance with irrigation water quality standards under the Royal Commission Environmental Regulations 2015.

Marafiq is planning to expand the plant up to a total capacity of 200 MLD in 2 phases  – the WABAG order win covers Phase 1 with a capacity of 120 MLD.

During the contract signing ceremony held on 31st October 2018. the President and CEO of Marafiq, Abdullah Al-Buainain expressed his confidence in providing world-class utility facilities for the new-wave of growth for the Saudi Vision 2030 industrial ventures.

Commenting on the order win, Deep Raj Saxena, CEO Marafiq Middle East & Africa Cluster said:

We are extremely delighted with this second large order win of INR 1,000 Crore in immediate succession to our INR 555 Crore order win in Qatar.
