DEWA gets ready to host WETEX 2018 and Dubai Solar Show

The Dubai Energy and Water Authority  (DEWA) is getting ready for next week’s  20th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2018) and the third Dubai Solar Show, the region’s largest solar energy exhibition, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

WETEX 2018 covers an estimated area over 78,000 square meters at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the participation of about 2,100 exhibitors from 53 countries, under the theme ‘At the forefront of sustainability’.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA commented:

“WETEX 2018, the largest edition since its inception 20 years ago, will be held under the umbrella of the Green Week, in conjunction with the third Dubai Solar Show, and the fifth World Green Economy Summit (WGES). It will feature leading international experts and speakers in the green economy, smart, innovation, and sustainable development fields.”

“In line with our pivotal role of advancing sustainability and sustainable development in Dubai and the UAE, and in accordance with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are working towards strengthening national efforts in the field of green energy. “

Al Tayer added that the third Dubai Solar Show, held in conjunction with WETEX 2018, covers over an area of 14,000 square metres and builds on the success of the previous edition.

The event will be an important opportunity for companies, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, specialists in solar system installation and storage, developers of solar energy projects according to the independent power producer model, research and development institutions, and engineering companies and consultants to view the latest cutting-edge technologies and trends in this growing industry.

Since its inception two decades ago, WETEX has been a pioneering platform to showcase the latest smart solutions and technologies in the traditional and renewable energy sectors, water, sustainability and conservation, bringing together the world’s leading companies and institutions to compete for the latest smart solutions and innovative services in the energy, environment and water sectors.

It is also a major strategic forum for leading international experts, specialists, solution providers, investors and decision makers to review and discuss the latest developments in solutions that support sustainable environment, the shift towards a green economy and to share best practices in water, energy and environment sectors.

WETEX 2018 will also include energy halls and companies specialised in electricity, technology, water desalination and treatment solutions.

WETEX also supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to transform Dubai into a global hub for clean energy and green economy, by providing 7% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2020. This target will increase to 25% by 2030, and 75% by 2050.
