Innovative ePIPE® pipe restoration technology awarded Canadian patent

Pipe Restoration Technologies LLC has announced that its ePIPE® Lead-Free, Leak-Free™ pipe restoration product line has been awarded a Canadian patent – the latest in a series of international patents for the ePIPE® technology.

The innovative ePIPE in-place epoxy coating system pipe restoration technology effectively and safely seals leaks and protects water supply pipes from leaking.

The modern alternative to a re-piping, the patented, minimally-invasive ePIPE process restores pipes as small as 1/2” in diameter in-place providing improved protection from lead leaching and leakage.

Potable water lines, natural gas lines, HVAC systems, drains and fire sprinkler pipes in homes, apartments, high-rise hotels, office buildings, skyscrapers, condominiums and schools can be treated.

In the United States alone, pinhole leaks have been identified as one of the nation’s leading causes of water loss. The American Water Works Association estimates that approximately 5 to 10 percent of American homes have water leaks that can drip away 90 gallons a day or more. In California alone, it is estimated that ePIPE installers save nearly 14.5 million gallons of water annually with the application of the ePIPE process and technology in potable water piping systems.

ePIPE epoxy coatings provide one of the fastest return to service epoxy lining products in the world, designed to protect drinking water pipes from leaks to enable water conservation, as well as reduce lead in water.

Using ePIPE, lead and copper levels are reduced to below the World Health Organization’s (WHO) cut-off levels. ePIPE is approved by NSF for an immediate return to service in as little as 90 minutes.

Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC is the parent company of the ePIPE product line with a multi-country group of installers that utilize the patented ePIPE process to restore pipes in-place. Canadian Patent no 2931789: Methods and Systems for Coating and Sealing Piping Systems is the latest in a series of international patents for the ePIPE® technology.

An alternative to a destructive repipe, the process is achieved using an application of an epoxy barrier coating, which results in a restored, epoxy lined piping system. The process provides a solution for pinhole leaks, epoxy lining, corrosion control and reduction of lead leaching from pipes without the destruction or disruption encountered by pipe replacements.

PRT and its affiliated companies have locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Mexico and Hong Kong.
